Overview of our extensions for special requirements

For many of our customers it is worthwhile to expand their existing grinding plants with auxiliaries. The powder cooler from Christian Pfeiffer improves product quality through cooling, the grinding ball sorting machine optimizes the ball feed in the grinding plant. Our foreign matter trap prevents heavy and oversized material from returning into the grinding process and protects the separator against damage.

Powder cooler

Reduces the temperature, increases product quality

In order to improve general or specific product quality it is often necessary to cool the finished product directly after grinding. A powder cooler from Christian Pfeiffer provides the right solution for this task. It is suitable for all powder products, grits, and circulating material from grinding plants or similar production processes.

Technical details

  • Indirect heat removal using the counterflow principle: The material to be cooled has no contact with the heat removal medium
  • Continuous and careful heat removal by means of an inside rotor that moves the material to be cooled upwards
  • The temperature of the input material can be reduced by 40°C to 70°C
  • If required, the cooling water can be returned to the cooling circuit using a recooling system
  • A water film cools the steel cylinder from the outside
  • Three machine sizes enable material throughputs of up to 180 t/h
  • Their compact design enables trouble-free installation in new plants, as well as easy integration into existing systems
  • Christian Pfeiffer's engineers conduct a water analysis and determine the plant components that will be required

Grinding ball sorting machine

Using grinding balls more efficiently

Grinding balls such as Allmax® grinding balls are extremely robust and have a long working life. With a grinding ball sorting machine from Christian Pfeiffer, their use becomes even more efficient. This is because the grinding balls can be precisely checked after passing through the sorting machine. Following the check, they can, be either reused or replaced by new balls – depending on wear.

  • Sorting machine with two sorting cylinders: Ideal for ball diameters from 50 - 100 mm
  • Sorting machine with five sorting cylinders: Ideal for ball diameters up to 50 mm
  • Sorting capacity up to 12 t/h (depending on ball size)
  • Adjustable vibration feeder and cylinders for optimum sorting performance
  • Adjustable input/output gap between the cylinders

Foreign matter trap

Provides effective protection of the separator

The foreign matter trap effectively protects the separator against damage from scrap or other materials and prevents that heavy and oversized material returns to the grinding process. The trap catches all foreign material that has been discharge from the mill such as deformed or broken grinding balls.

Technical details

  • Casing with two aeration units
  • Two slide gates with pneumatic cylinder
  • Installation in the air slide that connects the bucket elevator with the separator
  • Vibrating screen in the coarse material discharge 

Water injection systems
Control the temperature during grinding

Grinding materials inside a ball mill converts a high percentage of the required electrical power into grinding heat which can cause problems with the material properties or further processing. A water injection system is the easiest and most effective way to control the temperature during grinding in the mill.

Technical Details

Christian Pfeiffer provides three versions of the water injection systems:

  • Injection into the 1st chamber via inlet (Version Coal, Version Cement)
  • Injection into the 2nd chamber via outlet
  • Injection into the 2nd chamber via intermediate diaphragm

We offer a solution for every type of mill. Water injection systems from Christian Pfeiffer can be used for mills with trunnion or slide shoe bearings.
